Outreach

Outreach workshopPhoenix Brighton is working in partnership with celebratory arts group Same Sky to deliver a programme of outreach workshops involving children from local schools. Using the gallery exhibitions as inspiration, students work alongside artists on imaginative projects based around particular themes.

In October 2009, Rosalind Davis, who exhibited in the ‘Floor Plan’ exhibition in the gallery, ran a workshop for children from St. Martin’s primary school . Inspired by examples of architecture from the exhibition and from their own surroundings, the children created mixed media collages and hand sewn pieces.

From 20 February – 28 March 2010, Same Sky presents A Journey Through 'U', an art and science project and exhibition looking at the human body and its various systems.

The project involves seven local primary schools and four artists working together to produce a professionally presented exhibition in the gallery. Each class will look at the physical nature and form of one of the body’s sub systems, then create a series of 2- and 3- dimensional artworks.

The project involves a number of workshops in the gallery, school visits to the exhibition, and free Family Fun days during half-term, 15 – 19 February, 10 am – 12 noon.  More information...
