Phoenix and the Community: We believe everyone should enjoy art
Phoenix Brighton provides workshop space to a wide variety of groups in the community, encouraging creativity throughout the city. One-off or regular weekly sessions take place in the friendly environment of purpose built art rooms which are located adjacent to the large contemporary art gallery.
The Level Improvement Project
Brighton & Hove City Council has been working on proposals to improve The Level and make it more welcoming for people of all ages and abilities while celebrating its cultural heritage.
The intention is not to re-design The Level, but to restore some of its important heritage features in a way which celebrates the history of the park and would gives us the best possible chance in being successful in our funding bid. As importantly, we also want to make sure it better accommodates the needs of today’s park users and leaves a legacy for the future.
Phoenix Brighton are working with the council to include a strong creative aspect to the design with possible open air art exhibitions, performance, public sculpture. Do come along to the consultation meetings to give your views on what you would like to see happen.

Same Sky and Phoenix Brighton continue their ongoing collaboration for a third young people’s art Exhibition.
Young artists from local primary schools works with Same Sky to make large and small scale pieces of work and to find out about Phoenix Brighton its studios and Galleries.
They then come to Phoenix Brighton to see their work professionally curated in a high quality gallery for their own Private views.
They are also encouraged to bring their parents to see the exhibition giving them a rare opportunity to see their children’s work displayed with their peers and bringing new audiences to Phoenix Brighton.
This years show will look at the Geography of Place with our young artists making maps charts and journeys to transform the gallery space. What are maps? What’s important for us? Where are we now? Are we there Yet!!
A special public workshop/event will take place on Saturday 2nd July where people can drop in to the gallery and add their elements to a community “map”
