My work celebrates the directness, simplicity and tactile quality of drawing, alongside its capacity for recording complex layers of expression and meaning. The semi-abstract work is inspired by a range of sources, most notably human and botanical forms, and memories connected to the landscapes of places where I have lived. Through my working process, I join diverse imagery and approaches into new hybrids, which seem to reflect or embody the transformative nature of drawing. Current work develops imagery through materials ranging from pastel to spray paint; stencils and plant pigments. Monochrome studies have evolved into colour forays, at times approaching full-fledged painting. More images and information at www.karinmori.co.uk.
